Here’s how to find a discount airline ticket!

Did it ever occur to you that finding a discount airline ticket and cheap airfares have very little to do with the airline's cost of doing business? And that airlines price their seats on perceptions of what the public is willing to pay so that they can sell all their seats at the highest possible prices? It is said that Ignorance is Bliss! However here it is the ignorance of the consumer which ensures bliss for the airlines and their agents! For airline pricing policies, rules and procedures are so complicated and confusing that it seems as though they take vicarious pleasure in keeping consumers uninformed while simultaneously increasing their own profits, especially when making you hunt and search for a discount airline ticket.

But despair not. Every cloud has a silver lining. For, with a little bit of research, adjustment and ingenuity, one could even travel by air for a pittance; even as air transportation persistently threatens to be one of the most costly elements while planning a trip. Yes, one can reap great benefits with a discount airline ticket!

With discount airline tickets, flexibility is directly proportional to the discount.

To obtain the maximum mileage by way of discounts, one should, however, be prepared to be flexible. The airlines know that if you need to go somewhere urgently, you would be more than willing to pay a premium price for that seat. And in today’s fast world such instances happen more often than not. Airlines routinely give handsome discounts subject to certain restrictions. So, when you are shopping for a discount airline ticket the issue of restrictions associated with a particular airfare need to be examined closely in order to exploit maximum benefit. In most cases, the cheaper the ticket, the greater the number of restrictions associated with that ticket. So, in order to pay less for the same journey, one needs to plan well in advance.

Some of the common imposed restrictions are - purchase of tickets at least 21 days in advance, inclusion of a Saturday night stay-over, off-season fares, consolidator (special agent) tickets, package deals tied up with hotel accommodations, sight-seeing, etc., promotional fares, airfare price wars, auctioned ticket sales, and what have you. And if you are lonesome, footloose and fancy free, you could even temporarily become a courier and agree to accompany cargo. Although such opportunities are limited and highly restrictive, they could be amply rewarding in terms of phenomenal savings in airfare costs!

With a little patience and perseverance you can find a discount airline ticket that will save you lots of money.
